Life Coaching Informed Consent

A life coach is a trained individual who, through counseling and encouragement, helps their client achieve their ultimate goals. A life coach advises clients in many different arenas including relationships, academics, finances, personal and professional.

A therapist, on the other hand, is a trained mental health professional. These licensed professionals are better suited to diagnose and treat mental illness in their clients.

Client Responsibility. The client is responsible for implementing the techniques and strategies discussed in session to enhance their own physical, mental and emotional well-being. As a result, the client agrees that their life coach is not liable or responsible for any services provided. The client also agrees to participate in arbitration if there are areas of discontent.

Termination. The client and/or life coach can terminate or discontinue the life coach/client relationship at any time. Client will compensate the life coach for all coaching services rendered through and including the effective date of termination.

Confidentiality. Though the life coach-client relationship is not considered a legally confidential relationship, all efforts will be made to maintain the principles of confidentiality. There are three legal exceptions to maintaining confidentiality. The three exceptions are: 1 child abuse, 2 elder abuse, and 3 if you are going to hurt yourself or someone else.

The life coach makes no guarantees, representations, or warranties of any kind, express or implied, with respect to the coaching services negotiated, agreed upon and rendered. In no event shall the life coach be liable to the client for any indirect, consequential or special damages. The life coach’s entire liability under this agreement and the client’s exclusive remedy shall be limited to the amount actually paid by the client to the life coach under this agreement for all coaching services rendered through to the date of termination.

By paying you are agreeing to these terms.
