Now that we know what core beliefs are, it may be helpful to get a grasp on how they present themselves. Typically, in our day-to-day life we do not realize the impact core beliefs are having on us. Once you have a picture of what core beliefs say, it will be easier to extrapolate to the real world. Here is a partial list of core beliefs that are damaging to us and the people around us. Negative core beliefs include the world is not safe, I am not important, I am unlovable, I am dumb, I can’t do anything right, I have no value, people don’t like me, success is not possible, money is unachievable, people can’t be trusted, and on and on and on.
As you can see these core beliefs do not directly come up all the time, but they have a pervasive way about them. This means that these core beliefs continually impact how we think about ourselves, others around us, and our place and safety in the world as a whole. If the list causes an emotional reaction, then it may be beneficial to seek assistance and start the healing process.
